REMINDER & UPDATE: March & Hearing

Dear Friends,

Acts of Art would like to invite you to two very important events coming up -


A Congressional Hearing for Artists on Health Care will be held on Saturday, May 6 th, 2006, from 10am-5pm, at Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon Street , Brooklyn, NY.
(see attached flyer for directions - very easy to get to from NYC!).

This Hearing will be presided over by Congressman John Conyers, Jr., Council Member Charles Barron and co-sponsored by Fractured Atlas, Musician's Union – Local 802, Alliance of African American Artists, FEVA, The Actor's Fund, The Physicians for Social Responsibility, ENABLE Passion, The Pierogi Gallery, FOR, Brooklyn Parents for Peace, Harlem Tenants Council, Physicians for a National Health Program, Healthcare-NOW!, Rattapallax, and Art Without Walls.

Join us for some or all of the day - in the morning we'll be hearing testimonies from local artists and health care workers. In afternoon, we'll open up the dialogue between audience and our panel members of professional artists and physicians. Please join us!! Come support your fellow artists and inform yourself on the health care crisis and possible solutions. For more info,

Acts of Art will be Marching with Brooklyn Parents for Peace, Saturday, April 29th - a day of marching, celebration, morning, and community bonding. Please see info below, especially the directions to our meeting point - there are points you will not be able to cross Broadway. **Travel directions to meet BPFP contingent, E. 19th St between 5th Ave and Broadway (west side of Broadway): You will NOT be able to cross Broadway between 18th and 23rd Streets. Approach E. 19th St from the west.Suggested subways: #1 to 18th St or 23rd St on 7th Ave; F to 23rd St on 6th Ave; R to 23rd St on Broadway (this station may be closed if too crowded); N, R, Q, W, B, D, F to 34th Street.
